Introduction

Alsun is developed by the Alsun team to teach German to Arabic speakers. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

Data We Collect

1. Account Data

• Email address (when creating an account)
• Password — fully hashed by Supabase Auth; we never see it in plain text

2. Learning Data

• Placement test result and current CEFR level (A1–C1)
• Vocabulary and lesson progress (mastery levels, review dates)
• Results for the four skills: reading, writing, listening, speaking
• Daily streaks and error logs used for later review
• Words, sentences, and exercises you saved to your library
• Preferences (dark mode, audio auto-play, notification settings)

3. Speaking Data (when using pronunciation exercises)

• The device microphone is used only to evaluate your pronunciation during speaking exercises
• Audio is processed on-device and is never sent to our servers
• Only the similarity score (how close your pronunciation matched the model) is stored

4. Technical Data

• Device type and iOS version (for compatibility)
• Crash logs (for diagnosing and fixing issues)

How We Use Your Data

• Provide the App service and sync your progress across devices
• Run and personalize the Spaced Repetition System (SRS)
• Automatically calculate your CEFR level from your actual performance
• Verify words you add and fetch examples from trusted sources
• Send daily reminder notifications (you can disable these)
• Improve the App and fix bugs using performance logs
• Respond to support requests

Third-Party Services

We use trusted services to operate the App:

• Supabase — cloud database and authentication (account and progress)
• Render — backend server (request processing and word validation)
• Apple App Store — app distribution and future payment processing

These services operate under their own privacy policies and only process your data to deliver the specified service.

Security & Storage

Your data is stored on secure servers. All communication between the App and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS. A local copy is also stored on your device for offline use.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of your stored data
• Correction: Update any inaccurate information
• Deletion: Request permanent deletion of your account and all data from our servers
• Opt-out: Disable notifications via App settings or iOS Settings

Children's Privacy

The App is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided data, please contact us immediately.

Policy Updates

We may update this policy when adding new features. Any material changes will be announced in the App before taking effect. The last updated date is shown at the top of this page.
